Horizon Zero Dawn
Horizon Zero Dawn is a third-person action game, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by mechanized creatures. It features an open world environment for the player to explore, which is broken up into distinct areas with their own ecosystems, flora and fauna.
The protagonist Aloy battles these mechanized creatures with her spear, bow and sling. She can also mount them to overcome certain obstacles or attack other machines at close range for melee combat.
The story takes place 1,000 years after civilization was destroyed by a new ice age on the Earth’s surface; the remnants of humanity live in tribes ruled over by a matriarchal hierarchy called “Mothers” who worship relicts from before the apocalypse known as daeborn: animal-like robots made out of scrap metal and other materials left behind by humanity’s creators—the Old Ones—who disappeared when they created humans as slaves but rebelled against them instead of following orders like allas (a term used for both men or women depending on context).
The game follows Aloy: an outcast raised outside Mother’s tribal lands who seeks answers about her identity while helping others find theirs within the tribe itself.
