It’s no secret that I love video games. They’re a great way to escape the stresses of real life, and they offer hours of fun entertainment. But even though I’ve played some amazing games over the years, nothing compares to having your own favourite franchise. Of course, everyone has different tastes when it comes to gaming; some people prefer first-person shooters while others favour fighting games or role-playing adventures. No matter what kind of genres you like best, there’s bound to be an iconic series out there just waiting for you—no matter how old or new it is!

Here are some of my personal favourites:

The Legend of Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most popular series, and it was the first game in the franchise to be released. Since then, it has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide. The games have also received numerous awards and nominations over their long history. For example, Ocarina of Time was named as the greatest game ever made by IGN in 2007 and ranked second on Game Informer’s list of “Top 200 Games Of All Time ” in 2009. To date there are 15 main games within this franchise and two spin offs that were not developed by Nintendo but are still considered official parts due to licensing agreements with them (Hyrule Warriors Legends).

Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is a series of video games published by Sega. The franchise centres on a blue hedgehog named Sonic, whose goal is to save the world from Doctor Eggman. Initially released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis and later ported to other game consoles and PC computers, it became one of the best selling video games to hit the market during that console generation. The first three games in this franchise include “Sonic the Hedgehog 1”, “Sonic 2”, and “Sonic 3”. In 1994, Sega released their first handheld version called “Tails Adventure”.

Final Fantasy

Final Fantasy is a series of role-playing video games. The first game was released in 1987 and the most recent release, Final Fantasy XV, was released in 2016.

The main series has spawned numerous spin-off games; these include tactical role-playing games, action role-playing games, massively multiplayer online role-playing games, Kingdom Hearts action RPG series, racing spin-offs, dungeon crawlers, rhythm games and many more.

Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto is a series of open world action-adventure video games created by David Jones and Mike Dailly. The first two titles in the series were released in 1997 and 1998 on PlayStation, with the most recent game being released on November 18, 2018.

The Grand Theft Auto series focuses on an antihero named Claude Speed who participates in various heists while working for crime lords. The GTA franchise has received critical acclaim ever since its release, with the third main instalment being called “the best video game ever made” by IGN in 2011.

Mario Kart

The Mario Kart series is a racing video game series, developed and published by Nintendo. The series runs on the company’s consoles, beginning with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and continuing to the present day on its current home console, the Nintendo Switch.

A spin-off title called Mario Kart Arcade GP was released for arcades in 2001 and later ported to GameCube in 2005.

Before every Mario Kart game has been developed in collaboration with Namco (with the exception of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!). The first eight games were co-developed by both companies; however since 2012, after the release of Mario Kart 7 – all games have been solely developed by Nintendo alone (excluding certain elements such as characters or music).
